Mississippi State Hospital, a Joint Commission accredited and CMS certified facility, is located at Whitfield, MS, which is 15 miles southeast of the state’s capitol city, Jackson. The picturesque 350-acre campus is situated near national forests, a 33,000-acre man-made reservoir and the Pearl River which offer a multitude of recreational activities including camping, boating, and many miles of running and bike trails. 

 

For aficionados of museums and the arts, Jackson boasts an Art museum, a Black History museum, a Natural Science Museum, a Children’s museum, and Thalia Mara Hall, a venue for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and national shows/plays on tour.    

 

The Medgar Wiley-Evers International Airport and the Brandon Amphitheater, which regularly hosts large comedy and concert tours, are only minutes away. Weekend getaways to larger cities are easy as both New Orleans and Memphis are only 3 hours away by car, and Dallas and Atlanta are only 6 hours away. Additionally, the Mississippi Gulf Coast is less than 3 hours away.

 

Beautifully changing seasons offer numerous fall and holiday events rich with tradition, surprising spring flings for shaking off winter’s chill and laid back summer celebrations that detour off the fast lane. With its southern hospitality, high ranking schools and great places to live, our area is a wonderful place to call home!
