We love feedback because it helps us improve. We have numerous students who come through MSH and spend time with our faculty members. This includes medical students, PA students and residents from other programs as well. Here's what some have recently said about our faculty members:

“Dr. Norton is a fantastic preceptor! He really takes the time to teach and make sure we have a thorough understanding of all things psychiatry and neurology. He provides honest feedback in a way that is helpful and non-judgmental.”

“Dr. Torrence was such an amazing preceptor!! She was a really great teacher! She was so helpful and patient and I learned SO much this month. I recommended her to all of my friends who are doing their mental health rotation in Jackson. I wish that all William Carey students could have the opportunity to do this rotation with her at Mississippi State Hospital. I loved this entire rotation and it really helped me narrow down my future career choices.”

“I could not say enough great things about Dr. Jackson. He is probably the best teacher I have ever had the privilege to learn from and he is one of the nicest guys ever. He truly cares about his students and ensuring that they have the best rotation possible.”

“Dr. Torrence was fantastic and I learned so much from her. I felt good about my COMAT after studying under her. She took a lot of time out of her day to teach and to allow us to have some responsibilities. I loved my experience with her and at that hospital, and I definitely want to come back next year.”

“I believe Dr. Jackson and Dr. Norton truly teach us things that I'd learn at an academic hospital while also including us in the clinical setting of psychiatry care, and more importantly the aspect of medicine that students don't get to witness -whether it be the financial side of medicine or the pharmaceutical side. I personally couldn't have asked for a better psychiatry rotation.”

“Dr. Jackson is an excellent teacher and preceptor. He works hard to ensure his patients are treated with dignity and receive a high level of care. He takes time throughout the day to educate his students. In addition, he lectures from one to two hours, discussing in detail important topics concerning clinical psychiatry.”

“Dr. Norton is an exceptional preceptor; he's very knowledgeable and passionate about teaching. I learned so much during this rotation and I'm grateful to have had him. Also, Dr. Shoop (a DO family medical doctor) tried to teach us whenever we were free. It was a very encouraging environment, and everyone was happy to teach.”

“Dr. Torrence is an excellent preceptor. It is clear that she enjoys teaching students and she does a great job of it. After this rotation I felt I had a much better understanding of topics that I previously struggled with thanks to Dr. Torrence. I would highly recommend her as a preceptor.”

“Dr. Jackson is an enthusiastic and passionate preceptor. His knowledge and experience in teaching creates a very educational experience. Dr. Jackson takes time each day to discuss board and clinically relevant topics and allows the students with many opportunities to learn first-hand while under his guidance.”
